Wowsers! Talk about the timing for Book #3 in the Matt Drake Series — right in the middle of a war in the Ukraine.  Hostile Intent is a doozy of a book. And it was so much fun for me to talk to Don Bentley. He is such a great guy — well, he’s a pilot and everyone knows i love pilots. In this case an Army Apache helicopter pilot and, as if that isn’t enough, he is a former FBI Special Agent and SWAT team member.

In this fictionalized account of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and nuclear threat, Matt Drake has been tasked with the most crucial operation yet. The action takes the reader from Austin to Vienna to Kharkiv for a great read. Hostile Intent is an exhilarating espionage thriller!

I particularly love the Vienna section of the book as I spent lots of time there — and, yes, it really is a city full of spies. It was so much fun to people watch in Vienna over a cup of coffee mit schlag and a slice of apple strudel.

The writing is crisp — Don Bentley writes great dialog. His pacing sizzles. But then he is a New York Times bestselling author of two Tom Clancy Jack Ryan, Jr. novels.

Don Bentley spent a decade as an Apache helicopter pilot — and while in Afghanistan was awarded the Bronze Star meal and the Air Medal with “V” device for valor.  He’s my hero!
