It was so much fun to talk to Dr. Meg Lowman – the 1st Global Arbornaut.

As a girl who was raised in the forests of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, I love trees. So it was a thrill and honor for me to talk to Dr. Meg Lowman, who is known as the “Einstein” of treetops

“Canopy” Meg is the preeminent expert in the science of canopy ecology. Her cutting edge research has opened the eyes of scientists to the importance of treetop ecology. To reach the top of the tree world she has created methods for researchers to carry out their important work–including walkways, climbing slings, and hot-air balloons.

It was fun to talk about the latest edition of National Geographic Kid’s Almanac 2023 and Dr. Meg’s work to help make people aware of the need for conservation.

Get this book for every kid in your life! It will give them hours and hours of fun — and open up conversations. Children love to talk about what they read — in fact, this is the perfect book for FILMING kids reading and getting them to talk about what they have read.

You can turn this book into a really fun Summer Project. There are so many activities to do — including the 20 Things to make You Happy. Encourage children to take part in the new 2023 Almanac Challenge!
