Chrysta Castanada

The Last Trial of T. Boone PIckens

It was a joy to talk to Chrysta Castanada about her book, The Last Trial of T. Boone Pickens. It is non-fiction -- but it is so beautifully written that it reads like a novel

T. Boone Pickens, the legendary Texas oilman,  was an amazing guy. When they call someone 'bigger than life' they had him in mind. Some called him a corporate raider, but he was a savvy business guy. He had business leaders and top lawyers on speed dial. When it came to the biggest trial of his life, he could have had the top lawyer from the top law firm in the country. Instead, he selected a  young woman who had hung out her own shingle.  I can easily imagine him calling her, "A sweet little thing." That's how they talked back in those days in Texas.

Well, Chrysta might have been young and sweet as sugar, but she was tough and brilliant. T. Boone knew what he was doing when he picked her. He was a Republican and she was a Democrat. It wouldn't seem that it was a match made in heaven -- but it sure turned out to be a Texas two-step team. And a beautiful friendship!

The Last Trial of T. Boone Pickens is fascinating. I loved reading about all the back story and about the details of running a trial. From jury selection to keeping her client in line, Chrysta Castanada has written a story that you will enjoy. She has passion and talent. This is her first book, but I predict that she has found that joy on paper that I like to talk about and will follow in the footsteps of other great lawyer/authors like John Grisham, Linda Fairstein, and David Baldacci

It goes on sale on March 31st, but you can pre-order it.
