Mike Resnick and Laura Resnick – Father and Daughter Reunion

Father and Daughter - Two Dedicated Authors

Wow! What can I say? I love these two authors. Mike Resnick is one of my most favorite guys in the whole world! And out of this world, too, with all his amazing Sci-Fi thrillers. His mind is a mysterious and glorious place -- one that he delves into for the amazing number of brilliant stories that he has written.  I fell in love with his mind years ago when I read Kirinyaga, one of his many award winning books.

Mike Resnick is the all-time leading award winner, living or dead, for short fiction. He has won 5 Hugos (from a record 37 nominations), a Nebula, and so many other awards from all over the world. In fact, he has so many that he needs a special room for all of them.

He has written 75 novels, over 275 stories, and 3 screenplays, and the editor of 42 anthologies. His works have been translated into 27 languages. As if that wasn't enough, Mike is the editor of Stellar Guild books and Galaxy’s Edge magazine.

He is a warm and generous person who is multi-talented. Whether writing some of the best Sci-Fi ever written or clever mysteries or delightful short stories, Mike is a writers writer. Many up-and-coming writers got their first break because Mike spotted their talent.

They say the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. Not that I am calling Mike's daughter, Laura Resnick, a nut -- but she is, not unlike her father, a fascinating character and she certainly has a lot of strange ideas in that head of hers. It is almost frightening! I love her Esther  Diamond series is a favorite for when I need a good laugh or a good scare.  She has a delightfully good heroine, a self-absorbed chorus-girl, who always manages to get mixed up with an interesting mystery. Laura's books are always funny, often a bit goofy (in the nicest way) and filled with a wacky group of supporting players in Esther's life off stage. Esther's love interest, Lopez, is one of the nicest guys in fiction. He's someone you would like to meet. Just the kind of guy that zany Esther needs to keep her grounded in this urban fantasy series that has a touch of the paranormal.

Santiago: A Myth of the Far Future

Here is an Audible version of Mike's famous Santiago -- a sci-fi western with aliens and all kinds of random weirdness.  It is a lot of fun...

Abracadabra...Laura Resnick does it again...

I love a book that makes me laugh...in this book struggling actress Esther Diamond, whose year got off to a rough start (what with incarceration, unemployment, and mystical death curses), finally catches a break when she lands an acting job.

Nothing could go wrong, could it? Well, perhaps faster than you can say abracadabra...or is it abracadaver? Why do dead people always upset Esther's plans? This is Book 7 in the series.

Love a fun mystery...with Rita Moreau
