Really happy to welcome back to Joy on Paper, Neal F. Litherland, the author of Crier's Knife.
[Genre: Fantasy, Sword & Sorcery]
Neal is a very talented author and the new book is really impressive. Fantasy is a funny thing -- an author has to take you to a place and time that becomes, for a little while, your reality. That is why I enjoy Neal's writing. His characters are easy to follow. The main character, Dirk Crier, is memorable. I like when I remember a character's name long after I have finished a book -- and that as soon as I hear it, the story comes back to mind. Dirk's story is compelling and you will find yourself invested in the outcome.
When I finished Crier's Knife, I thought of Hugh Howey's book, Wool. There is something magical in Neal's writing. An honesty. A depth. It's going to be fun to talk to Neal on December 13th.
Meanwhile, check out Neal's Amazon page...you can read some of his blog posts there. Read his recommendations of other authors you should check out. I like that he helps promote other others -- just like Mystery Writer of America Grand Master, Carolyn Hart. Authors helping authors -- it's a good thing!
