V.M. Burns – Mystery Bookshop – Book 6

A Tourist's Guide to Murder - Book 6

VM Burns is my kind of author! I love cozy mysteries, I love dual timelines, and I love books set in England. A Tourist's Guide to Murder is my cup of tea -- which I enjoyed one Sunday afternoon while sipping Earl Grey Tea from Harrods and my homemade scones with strawberry preserves from Fortnum and Masons. .

What an absolutely fun read! VM - Valerie to me -- is a really fine writer. Not only does she come up with a clever mystery, she knows how to create atmosphere as she takes us on a trip to the land of Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes, with her bookstore owner and amateur sleuth, Samantha Washington

Samantha is one of those beautifully drawn characters that will stay with you --  as will her grandmother, Nana Jo. I like a tall grandmother! In this particular adventure, Sam takes Nana Jo and her Shady Acres Retirement Village friends Irma, Dorothy, and Ruby Mae on a merry trip to London, England, to experience the Peabody Mystery Lovers Tour. When I lived in England I conducted the same tour for all my friends and relatives who came to visit me from the States -- so it was really fun to again see the sights and walk the streets that inspired Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle. Of course, a highlight of the story is that Sam is celebrating her new publishing contract as a mystery author.

Naturally we need a body -- and Valerie serves us up a good one in the shape of Major Horace Peabody. And naturally it is not a natural death as people would like to believe. So send in Sam and the Shady Acre Gang is get mixed up in a nice little complicated murder.

Once you read this newest release I am sure you will want to go back to the beginning -- like I have done. Oh, Valerie, what have you done to me -- as if I didn't have enough books to read, I get hooked on yours!
