WOWSERS! Dead Coin by Sheldon Siegel is another great hit from this brilliant New York Times bestselling author.
For this interview with Sheldon, Rita Moreau joined me in the studio to talk about Book #15 in the Mike Daley and Rosie Fernandez series.
Rita, who is a Special Correspondent for Joy on Paper and does the BookBuzzes for mysteries, knows Sheldon’s characters as if they were part of her family. I’ve found myself having coffee with Rita and we end up talking about Rosie and Mike–and about Mike’s brother, Pete, and her very favorite character, Sylvia. Of course, we love the kids, Grace and Tommy. We’re looking forward to them occasionally getting involved in future books.
An author knows he has DONE HIS JOB WELL, when his readers look forward to their ‘old friends’ coming back in a new book.
The new book, DEAD COIN, tackles a very timely subject. A cryptocurrency company, Deal Coin, is in trouble. Their CEO, Tyson Gore, was murdered in Salesforce Park in San Francisco. Supposedly by a homeless man. But is he guilty? San Francisco Public Defenders Mike Daley and Rosie Fernandez aren’t convinced. There are lots of angry investors who would have liked to see Gore dead. After all, he did lose $40 Billion of their cryptocurrency investments.
Like always in his books, Sheldon Siegel makes San Francisco a character in the book. This time we get introduced to Salesforce Park–which is something new for those of us who have not been to San Francisco for years. He knows every street and the restaurants he writes about are real. In fact, on his website he lists them.
Fans of Mike and Rosie will love this book. And new readers, you are in for a treat. After you read this book you will have the JOY of going back and binging on all of Sheldon’s other books. It’s fun to be back with Mike Daley and Rosie Fernandez, two of the most beloved characters in contemporary crime fiction. I love the courtroom scenes, which are always great. (Sheldon Siegel was named a Northern California Super Lawyer!)
